Kelly KLS programmable motor controllers provide efficient, smooth and quiet control of electric motorcycles, golf carts and road carts; as well as industrial motor control. KLS controllers are mainly designed to solve noise problems when using a BLDC motor. Compared with the traditional trapezoidal wave control technology, this technology based on sine wave excitation technology is designed to reduce operation noise and 1/3 switching loss, which is well suited to the noise reduction and efficiency requirements of brushless DC motor applications. It uses high power MOSFETs, SVPWM and FOC to achieve efficiency up to 99% in most cases. A powerful microprocessor provides comprehensive and precise control of the controllers. It also allows users to quickly and easily set up parameters, perform tests and obtain diagnostic information.

KLS-8080I works with BLDC motors with Hall sensors. KLS-8080IPS can work with BLDC motors with sine/cosine speed sensors.

Description
KLS8080I/IPS is designed with opto-isolated technology. We specify 8-30V for power supply, which must be isolated from the main battery B+/B-. You can use an isolated DC-DC converter or a separate 12V battery for power.

General features:

  • Advanced fault detection and protection. Customers can also read the error code in the software on PC or Android tablet.
  • Battery voltage monitoring. It will stop moving if the battery voltage is too high and will gradually reduce motor drive power as the battery voltage drops until it cuts out completely at the "Low Battery Voltage" setting.
  • Built-in current loop and protection against overcurrent.
  • Configurable motor temperature protection range.
  • Current reduction at low and high temperatures to protect battery and controller. The current starts to decrease at 90℃, turns off at 100℃.
  • The controller monitors the battery charging voltage during deceleration.
  • Maximum reverse speed and forward speed can be set between 20% and 100% respectively and separately.
  • The 4-pin RS232 port connector and Z-TEK USB-RS232 cable allow configuration, programming and software updates using the tablet, which should now be based on the Android OS. People can do the same with PC software by using a standard USB-RS232 cable instead.
  • Provide +5V and +12V output to power various types of Hall effect sensors.
  • 5 switch inputs that are activated by connecting to 12V. Default throttle switch, brake switch, reversing switch, and front and boost switches.
  • 3 0-5V analog inputs that default to throttle input, brake analog input, and motor temperature input
  • Copy the signal from one of the sensors.
  • Configurable boost switch. Enables the maximum output power achievable when the switch is turned on. The effect is the same as at full throttle, even if you don't throttle at all.
  • The 12V brake switch input uses a different port than the engine temperature sensor. In the latest version, you can use the functions of the brake switch and the engine temperature sensor at the same time. Pin 25 is a 12V brake switch input port. Pin1 is a motor temperature sensor input port.
  • Optional throttle joystick. Biosymmetrical 0-5V signal for forward and reverse.
  • Configurable motor overheating detection and protection with recommended thermistor KTY84-130 / 150 or KTY83-122.
  • 3 sensor inputs hall position. Open manifold, tighten if necessary. Sin / Cosin speed sensor inputs.
  • Brake recovery mode. This regeneration mode no longer needs a brake switch to support it. Only available in software version 0106 or advanced.
  • Improved brake recuperation function. New ABS technology ensures powerful and smooth regeneration. Regeneration can take place at any speed up to zero speed.
  • Cruise control. Only can be activated in forward direction.
  • KLS-8080I / IPS can support broadcast type CAN bus function. It's 250 kbps. By default, the KLS-8080I / IPS controller enables the CAN bus function.
  • Bluetooth function Requires a small Bluetooth converter, which must be purchased separately from our website. This small converter is only useful for KLS controller.
  • Can support three speeds on the latest version.

Features:

  • /li>
  • Rugged aluminum housing for maximum heat dissipation and harsh environments
  • Rugged heavy current terminals and rugged aviation connectors for weak signal
  • Thermal protection: cut off current, warning and high temperature shutdown.
  • The controller can perform automatic angle identification for various sine/cosine speed sensors. Can adjust zero-cross point and signal amplitude to fit different sine/cosine speed sensors.
  • Configurable high pedal protection: controller will not work if high gas is detected at power-up.
  • Current multiplication: take less current from the battery, output more current to the motor.
  • Easy to install: A 3-wire potentiometer will work.
  • Standard PC/Laptop for programming. Customers have another choice to program the KLS controller. Standard Android tablet for programming. Requires a Z-TEK USB TO RS232 cable to connect the controller to the tablet application.
  • User program provided. Easy to use. No cost to customers.
  • Supports motors with any number of poles.
  • Standard up to 70,000 rpm. (Electrical revolutions = mechanical revolutions * motor pole pairs; motor pole pairs = motor poles / 2).
  • Characteristics:
  •
  • Operating frequency: 10 kHz or 20 kHz.
  • Battery standby current: <0.5mA.
  • 5V or 12V sensor supply current: 40mA.
  • Controller supply voltage range: PWR, 8V to 30V for pins 7 and 6 to be isolated from main battery B+/B-.
  • Supply current, PWR, 30mA typical.
  • Configurable battery voltage range, B+. Maximum operating range: 18 V to 1.25 * Nominal voltage.
  • Standard throttle input: 0-5 Volts (3-wire resistive resistor), 1-4 Volts (active hall damper).
  • Throttle input: 0-5 volts. Can use 3-wire capacitance to get 0-5V signal.
  • Full power operating temperature range: 0-70 to 70℃ (MOSFET temperature).
